About Curious Flora Nursery

  Curious Flora Nursery is a wonderland where plants, people, and community continue to thrive in the footprint of the former location of Annie’s Annuals and Perennials in Richmond CA. When a beloved nursery suddenly closed, a group of managers with decades of experience banded together to form Curious Flora. We are an employee-led nursery committed to the continued curation and propagation of an astounding selection of plants from California’s wildly diverse landscapes and gems from boundless destinations.

 

  With more than 20 years together, Carlos Castillo and Memo Garlaza will keep working their magic and piloting plant production. New owner, Colleen Wheeler, will carry on her work heading up R&D and introducing brilliant new curiosities to the nursery. They are thrilled to continue working alongside team members who after years of collaboration are as much friends as coworkers. Penny Orland, co-owner and Colleen’s mom, is a welcome addition to the crew, making this one big family operation—literally and figuratively.
